Beware of Walmart prepackaged salads; two Floridians found a bat in their Fresh Express salad bought at Walmart. Although they were checked for rabies but showed no signs, they are being treated for the disease as a precaution. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have taken up an investigation, along with Florida's health officials and the Food and Drug Administration. The company that produced and sold the product are calling cancelling their Organic Marketside Spring Mix out of safeguard.
I'm grateful that the situation is being taken very seriously and that the two Floridians are safe. This relates back to the early 1900's when the meat-packing industry was overflowing with disease and impurities in their food, resulting in the passing of the Pure Food and Drug Act.

That's so gross! They should really have better regulation of their food out to the general public.
ReplyDeleteIt is crazy that a bat managed to get into a salad. I hope that the people are okay and that this doesn't happen to anyone else who eats the product.
