The
use of the death penalty as capital punishment has greatly decreased due to
better representation in death penalty cases as well as life in prison without
parole. The drugs used in the death penalty can be used for better causes in medicine.
The
use of the death penalty as a consequence for murder cases are perceived by
most people as morally wrong. The use of life without parole is more efficient
because the prisoners are left in a cell for the rest of their life in
solitude. The death penalty can prove to be the “easy way out” through the
short term suffering, while life without parole is long-term suffering. Lives
are valuable, but nothing is worse than a life wasted, which is what life
without parole guarantees.

I think that the government had the right goal in mind when they established capital punishment. However, there is a big risk of ending the life of an innocent one at hand.
ReplyDeleteIf someone is deserving of capital punishment, wouldn't you rather them spend their whole life in prison as a consequence rather than kill them instantly? They will have the rest of their lives to agonize and regret what they did which to me seems a more suitable punishment for someone who has committed terrible crimes.
