Texas has been coping with widespread flooding after severe storms. While many people have enjoyed the constant rain over the blistering heat this constant flow rain has proved to be a major problem for Texas cities. Wimberly and Houston have been declared a state of emergency. Residents of the cities have lost their homes, cars, pets and even loved ones. But Texas is not the only one suffering while 14 deaths of have occurred there of 34 people have been found floating in the flood waters. 14 from northern Mexico, and 6 from Oklahoma. There are still 10 people are declared missing.
Nature disasters have always been a controversial topic in society. Due to the effectiveness of local and national government and what role they have after the disaster. A great example would be Hurricane Katrina which hit the gulf in 2005 but primarily affecting Louisiana. The Bush administration took the blame for many of the lives lost in the aftermath due to the ineffectiveness and lack of response. This situation tainted an already lacking presidency. It will be interesting to see how Texas government will handle the situation and what precautions will be taken to stop deaths from happening

The weather has really affected multiple cities. Of course most people say that because we live in Texas, our weather is unpredictable. However everything brings unity and I think that this weather has showed our state's unity. We're all having bad weather and then we stick together by declaring emergencies etc.
ReplyDeleteThe weather should be regulated by big walls in the sky or they should have rescue teams ready. Quentin Noble P2
