Sister Helen Prejean is, in my opinion, is one of the strongest woman in America. She has devoted the past 20 years to visiting
and praying with death row inmates. The news story posted by CNN follows her
battle against the judicial system with the increased amount of botched
executions. Two years ago an inmate was given defective lethal injection that
resulted in the death taking 2 hours and the man finally suffering from a fatal
heart attack. After witnessing her first execution she realized that one dies
almost a thousand times in that cell before actually being executed, and that’s
not for the system to determine.
This relates
to U.S History as the Supreme Court, over the past few decades, have been
changing their stance on certain high profile issues. It shows that over time,
the American mindset bends depending on the views of those in high power. I don’t
think that any government should have enough power to decide who should die or
not.
