In a recent chlamydia outbreak located in a West Texas, Crane High School discovers their abstinence only program has utterly failed. The author explores reasons this could have occurred and factors in her own experience in similar Texas towns. The author also mentions that this avoidance style of teaching rejects sex, but also rejects the use of condoms which probably lead to this outbreak.
The author’s viewpoint is slightly credited more since she experienced growing up in in places similar to the one mentioned in the article. This is an article most liberals will agree with, but it definitely aims to get the attention of conservatives and show them what is not working.
