More Money, Less Problems- Alexus Thurman 4th Period

To keep legalized marijuana away from minors, states plan to increase the cost of it, use unappealing packaging to not catch the attention of children, and prohibit marketing. Increasing the price of the legal drug will, in turn, increase it's price on the black market, making it to where minors can't purchase it.
These efforts can help in stopping children involvement in drugs,  minors, especially teen drug users, will find a way to buy and consume drugs. The efforts by the state would help expose minority use of the illegal substance. Glamourizing the use of marijuana and other illegal drugs also appeals to minors and encourages them to use it. Prohibiting the marketing of legal marijuana will decrease consumption.

  1. Those are all great strategies to keep legalized marijuana away from minors, but I think the first thing the government should do (if they had not done so already) is make the legal age of use 21.
