2 Year Old Falls into Cheetah Pit- Hannah Clifford 5th Period

 http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/12/us/cleveland-zoo-cheetah-fall/index.html

In Cleveland, a two year old boy (who's identity has not been released) fell into a cheetah pit at the zoo. His legs were injured, but other than that, he was okay. His parents were seen dangling the boy above the exhibit before he fell. The parents ran in after him and retrieved him before the fire department arrived. The two parents will probably be charged with child endangerment.

This was written by Andreas Preuss for CNN on April 12th. It's difficult to grasp why a parent would willingly endanger their child like this. Even though the cheetah had been in an exhibit setting and probably wouldn't have had the energy to harm the child, the 10-12 foot drop is not something a 2 year old should have to endure. The federal government probably wouldn't be able to do anything about this, but the state government should do the best it can to ensure the future safety of its children. For now I believe these parents should be charged for what they've done to their child. They're supposed to be protectors, not threats.

  1. This story is unbelievable. Why in the world would a parent dangle their toddler over a cheetah pit? I can't fathom their motive. I agree that they should be punished for their carelessness.
