Yesterday two anti-war protesters, one being 83 years old, were arrested outside of former Vice President Dick Cheney's house. The two were connected with groups like Code Pink and Witness Against Torture. When the police arrived at the house, they told the protesters to either leave the premise or face trespassing charges- and they refused. Code Pink, who is calling for closure of the Guantanamo Bay detention center in Cuba, had their national coordinator Ali McCracken release a statement saying how ironic it was that the people behind torture (Cheney) were "running free and out profitting from all the years of failed war" while the peaceful protesters were the ones getting arrested for trying to come up with a better foreign policy.
This article is filled with irony. According to the first amendment to the Constitution, which states that everyone has the freedom of speech along with the right to peacefully assemble and petition, those two protesters shouldn't have been arrested. I think many people will be angered by this article. Maybe there was some bias that the author had and he excluded some information about the protesters, but from what we know, the protesters had every right to do what they did.
