California Drought - Elisa Weich Period 5

The drought that has plagued California since 2011 has been, under the study of a number of scientists, been declared the result of climate variability than of climate change.  Of three papers published since the drought began, only one has connected the travesty to human hands.  A high pressure system off the coast of California has been blocking any winter storms for the past three years that would have normally revitalized the suffering state.  A similar thing happened in Australia last year and the general opinion there is the same, that climate change and the greenhouse effect have little to do with the drought in comparison to natural climate follies.

It is interesting to learn that a theory so believed by the world has been disproved in such a serious case.  However, it is more interesting that most people were not even aware that there as a drought in California, or at least one of such serious consideration.  There are droughts all over the world, but until recent attention because of the ALS challenge and the effort of many not to waste water for it many people did not know of the severity of the California drought.  Upon further research I have found people blaming bottled water and climate change most often, but there claims are without proof now.

  1. Yeah it's hard for me to remember that droughts happen all the time. I usually don't pay any attention to them unless they state water restrictions.

  2. It's interesting to look at the current weather of the world and compare it to past accounts of the world. Throughout history weather is known to impact the people and change the course of life.
