NYPD Faces ISIS Threats Again -Hadassah Lai

A message was released in September 2014 telling ISIS followers to "rise up and kill intelligence followers, police officers, soldiers, and civilians". The message was re-released recently and the NYPD was informed. The threat named France, United States, Canada, and Australia as targets. The NYPD claims that they are not under any more threat as before, they believe that it is a repercussion of the 17 assassinations in France. CNN terrorism analyst Paul Cruickshank says that ISIS hopes that the devastating event in France will inspire more attacks in the West.

George Washington had said in his Farewell Address that he advised the Americans to stay out of foreign affairs. Maybe he had implied it for that time period, considering that America was weak after the American Revolution. The assassinations in France was a devastating and horrible event that shocked the world. This reminds me of the French Revolution, the violence and the brutality. Although the Americans were not involved in that Revolution, they could very well be involved in the fight that is going on now.

  1. It is disturbing that a single terrorist power has been able to manipulate governments through threatening positions. Hopefully, these are empty threats that can be negotiated peacefully.

  2. After the attack in France it was expected that there would be some repercussions. I think the police are reacting well to it. What happened was absolutely awful and I hope that we can bring an end to such a scary time.
