Cody Johnson and Jordan Graham were married for just 8 days, when Cody fell to his death at a Montana National Park in July. Cody fell face first at Glacier National Park and his newlywed wife has been accused of pushing him and killing him. Jordan who is 22 years old is now fighting for her freedom as she prepares to go to trial starting Monday in U.S. District Court in Missoula. Jordan has pleaded not guilty and her attorney says that her new husband fell by accident during an argument with her that got physical. However, the prosecutors say that Jordan pushed Cody in the back with both hands and he fell face first to his death. This seems to contradict the defense's argument that Cody fell by accident after Jordan pushed his arm away during an argument. According to charging documents in the case, Jordan told a friend that she was having second thoughts about the marriage, and that she said that she wanted to talk about her issues with Cody the night he died.
Apparently, Jordan reported Cody missing and made up several different stories about where Cody could be, including a story where she saw him leave with a friend from out of town. Later, Jordan reported the discovery of Cody's body to a park ranger on July 11, according to the affidavit. When the park ranger commented that it was unusual that she was the one to make the discovery, Jordan allegedly said, "It was a place he wanted to see before he died."
Police had to use a helicopter to retrieve Cody's body from the steep cliffs below the park's Loop Trail. His body was recovered on July 12. I think this is such a terrible story. It pretty much shows how out of hand an argument or fight can get when you loose your temper. I sure hope that justice is served here. I would hate for Jordan to be convicted of murder if it was indeed an accident. But I would hate for her to get off if she indeed pushed her husband on purpose. Very sad.
