Gloria Jones: Lion Kills Lioness at Dallas Zoo

Recently, a lion at the Dallas zoo killed a lioness as horrified visitors watched. This is an extremely rare occurrence in both captivity and the wild. The zoo officials say they neither know at present nor may ever know why this attack occurred.
I'm confused over how puzzle people are over this attack. Lion's are predators. They're genetics tell them to hunt and kill. These animals have never had the opportunity to hunt for food or even run past the confinements of their cage. These animals are restless, and even though this occurrence is rare even in captivity, all lions respond differently to spending their lives at the zoo.

  1. That's very true Gloria. Keeping a beautiful beast such as a lion caged up can cause all kinds of weird occurrences. Such as lions eating people. They would never go directly for human meat in the wild. However, for him to kill a lioness is kind of shocking to think about. But of course this won't show people how unnaturally wrong it is to keep animals caged up. They'll just separate this one lion by saying things like horrified and rare occurrence. Maybe the lioness was stepping out of the cage...lolss
