In Centennial, Colorado, Karl Pierson, armed with a shotgun, Molotov cocktails, ammunition, and a machete, entered his high school, Arapahoe High School, with the intent of killing multiple people, including a particular teacher. That teacher was not harmed in the shooting; however, a female student was shot and is now in critical condition with severe head trauma. The gunman entered the library and lit a Molotov cocktail. He turned the gun onto himself in a corner in the library. The entire event took 80 seconds.

Most people will be thinking of Newtown since it's one year anniversary passed. However, what comes to my mind is the eerie similarities between this event and the Columbine High School Massacre. Both are in the same county, Jefferson County; all the shooters were seniors with strong opinions; all the shooters never actually harmed the people they said they had grudges against (suggesting a pervasive hatred); and their weaponry is quite similar. My worries are that this wasn't really motivated by revenge but by wanting infamy through copycatting; my prayers are with the girl's family as she recovers from this incident. The best thing for his fate is for his name to become an ambiguity, as he deserves no recognition or notoriety for this.
