Madison Ceurter 5th period: Marvin Gaye heirs sue 'Blurred Lines' artists

The Hit song "Blurred Lines" was being accused of copyright from Marvin Gaye's song "Got to Give It Up."  Gaye's heirs accuse Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams, "TI" and Sony-ATV for failing to try to protect the copyright of Gaye's song.  The publisher refused to sue "Blurred Lines" writers when the family asked them to.  The "Blurred Lines" writers asked a federal judge to declare that their song wasn't a copyright infringement on Marvin Gaye's song.  Robin Thicke did say that he wanted this song to have a Marvin Gaye feel to it and when they got into the studio they started making beats and eventually they made the song.  I went back and looked at the Marvin Gaye song and the beginning sounds like "Blurred Lines."  Every singer/artist always has people they look up to and who their music inspiration was.  I know many singers that have had Micheal Jackson as their role models and use his beats, music or his vocals.  I think that Gaye's heirs should see this more as a celebration of bringing back this kind of music.
