What is Snapchat? Arlesia McGowan Period 4

Messages gone in 10 secs worth billions?

Snap! Set timer. 10 seconds view. Ready to send in a flash. Snapchat, a picture app with messaging, has been setting the trend for many young individuals. Its still the new thing out. This two year old company was created by Stanford undergraduates essentially for a mobile sharing and video device, but it slowly became more popular by the month. This app is generally in favor of the young people because of its self destructing action in less than ten seconds, which made it slowly become notorious for the nude sending. However, being that it is becoming popular, surprisingly, Snapchat has turned down a $3 billion dollar offer from Facebook. *Gasp* I know right? ( not really), but it is generally surprising to some but hey,  independence. We can all respect that. The question now is, how long will Snapchat thrive with just being on its own? Every social networking site seems to always be in touch with Facebook (no pressure to the Snapchat dudes), so this will be interesting to measure. But wait now, we have to all remember that Snapchat really is unique in its own way because it offers something no other social media site does. Take that Facebook.
I swear this was like the shortest article I've ever read but I was mainly attracted to it when it was mentioned that they turned down Facebook. Um, who turns down Facebook? NOONE. Literally every ad I can name is on Facebook, even companies. Facebook, even though becoming over rated, is still the Zues of social media, which is the reason why I respect the fact that Snapchat turned them down. It really is it's own thing which is why in my opinion, it will still float on the social seas. I guess I could say, long live Snapchat!

             Hasta la Vista,
                      Arlesia :)

  1. Wow thats a pretty big step for them to turn down Facebook. But I agree with you and I'm glad they did! I love using snapchat, I think it is fun and a good way to make you and your friends laugh(:

  2. Snapchat is probably one of my apps. Sure, Facebook is like super mega huge but I think Snapchat made the right decision by turning them down. Facebook really does not need every social networking site in existence to correlate with them.
