"I'm the voice of Siri" Susan Bennett stated this past Friday, October 4th. Her voice is clearly identical to the voice of siri, although apple has no confirmation. She can be heard in other commercials and on delta air terminals, but she was surprised to here her voice on the iphone 4s when it launched in 2011. She originally recorded the voices for apple in 2005, uncertain of what they would do with her voice or what they would use it for. Then, she became an icon. Since the new update iOS7 has new voices for siri, the old "American Siri" has run its course- and we now know the woman behind the answer to all of our absurd questions to "where can i hide a dead body".
honestly this made me so excited, like i was watching this celebrity. Siri is an icon in technology and apple phones, and to see this real person behind our electronic, pocket-sized, all knowing answerer makes the general public see Siri in a new light. This post might be kind of random, but I just find Bennett so awesome and her interview made her amiable; now i can talk to Susan all day. This shows America's dependence on new technology, and how the new Siri is changing and evolving to meet our standards of technology- but we'll never forget the original icon.

This is so cool. We always think of Siri as kind of a real person until a name came out. Now we can really put a name to a face. So exciting to see what "Siri" really looks like!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. That's terrible that they gave "Siri" a new voice, and Apple didn't give Susan any of the credit. I can only imagine getting a new phone and then hearing my own voice come out of! It's interesting to see if her face matches what you had in mind for the great "Siri"
