Rally At The Alamo Will Call On Texans to Raise Their Rifles High
Many "armed demonstrators"are planning to rally at the Alamo this Saturday to celebrate to gun culture of the state, as well as push the limits of its right to bear arms. The citizens are asking to be able to carry weapons openly and unconcealed in public. The citizens are also to have loaded weapons at the protest.
This is a highly unreasonable task. Why do people think it is acceptable to carry loaded weapons publicly, and unconcealed? Especially at a time when there have more weapons attacks than ever. Our president has had to make more addresses on gun violence than State of The Union speeches (1). THIS IS RIDICULOUS!! It would be completely ignorant of us to expect to be able to have weapons in public for all to see, especially if they are LOADED!! By allowing this to be legal, we are practically escorting terrorists (and others crazy enough to kill people for..."reasons") to make attacks on innocent people.
Texan loaded arms in public: smart or STUPID? Tell me what you think...

I agree that it's definitely unsafe for them to encourage/allow loaded weapons at this rally, if you look simply at accidents with guns that whole situation is just an accident waiting to happen. However, I am totally for the right to have a gun, that being said I am also for universal background checks so the fact that we don't really know who's there with these loaded weapons (since the universal background checks don't exist yet) is what concerns me the most.
ReplyDeleteI think they should be able to carry unconcealed and loaded weapons, its a right of the constitution. Also, people of the past did that. If a person was out to cause harm, they'd find a way. Allowing everybody to be armed assures that at least the victims might be able to defend themselves, though I think they should have to pass a test for marksmanship if they want to carry a loaded weapon publically.
ReplyDeleteWe have a right to bear arms, but we don't have a right to be crazy about it. The reason we shouldnt have weapons obviously out is because people are threatened and in danger, and by letting people openly carry loaded weapons we are escorting their possible attack.

ReplyDeleteEvery one of our freedoms has an extent to which the freedom has gone to far. For example, we could say that lying is allowed because we have freedom of speech. Or we could say that the media can publish articles and reports on the private/confidential affairs of the government. These controversies seem to always be present in the news and current events. There is a point in which common sense should override a right or freedom that has been taken too far.
ReplyDeleteI SECOND THAT!!!!
DeleteAlthough the right to bear arms is in the Constitution, I think this is taking it a little too far. I agree that it provides a way for terrorists or other crazy people to easily attack, creating problems that might as well have been asked for. Also, how can that many people be trusted with loaded guns? There is bound to be an accidental shooting due to carelessness. I think we should just be appreciative that we have the right to bear arms, but there is no need for a public occasion such as this.
