How the Shutdown Threatens Some Home Owners - Nana Johnson 2nd

Summary:
The government shutdown not only affects politicians in Washington D.C., but its affecting those in ordinary life. The government told about 60 home owners to leave their property during the shutdown because their property is managed by the government. Anyone in Lake Mead Recreational Area will be considered a "visitor" on federal land. Although the homes are supposed to be vacation homes (with the expectation that they have homes elsewhere), some people are living in these homes full time. One couple has to live in with a nearby family because they were told they had 24 hours to evacuate their home. Some people considered protesting, but realized they can be issued a citation, and even go to jail if they don't pay it. Federally owned trails, national parks, and other properties are closed. The government shutdown is affecting preschool classes which depend on federal funds. Low-income mothers and their babies who are dependent on federal funding for infant supplies have been affected. If the shutdown continues, it will affect the stock-market and people with retirement plans. The shutdown is expected to end later on this month. On the bright side, skateboarders are basically free to skate around the Washington D.C. are because of the scarce amount of officers.

Analysis:
I am very happy that the author of this article ended with something positive. Although the government shutdown is negatively affecting many people. I'm glad that there's something good about it, somewhere. The government shutdown is really beginning to affect many people all over the United States in many ways that I would've never thought of. People who stay in their OWN houses on federal property could get a citation. The government shutdown is harming people who need benefits the most. Both political parties seem to already have their strong set positions on the subject, and don't look like they're budging soon, although there are families out there who are eagerly waiting for the whole thing to end. I think that these politicians need to pay more attention to the way they're affecting the American people, and focus on how they can improve America. While they may have gotten comfortable in their high positions, the main reason we have a Constitutional Republic is for government officials to represent what is best for the people.
