Many are familiar with the internationally known street artist Banksy, known for his creative commentary through spray paint stencil graffiti. His fame is due partially due to his own award winning documentary about the underground world of street art, Exit Through the Gift Shop. He has since enjoyed his success, many of his paintings selling for insane prices at New York auction houses. He is native to England, but he has recently taken a trip to New York to vandalize in the best fashion. However, his street artworks so far have been followed by vandals destroying his own artworks. He has taken photos of each piece to preserve them before they were destroyed, and his most recent photo have spun the art lovers of New York out of their minds. Determined to find this artwork before it is vandalized, a city-wide scavenger hunt is under way. What fun!

Love his stuff, why would people trail his work just to vandalize it though? I don't get that logic
ReplyDeleteI love Banksy! Whenever my family travels to different cities, we go "Banksy Hunting" and his pieces are either covered up, vandalized, or have protective plastic over it. I don't understand why people would want to vandalize his art. If the shop owners like having it there, why should other people care?
ReplyDeleteFelicia Padilla 5th period: This is awesome! I think its so cool that people are able to appreciate graffiti, when it is done with good intentions. However, it is disappointing that people are destroying this artwork with their own graffiti which is most likely not in good taste.
