As Government Shutdown Persists Americans Feel the Bite

We are on day 17 of the government shutdown and our economy is currently feeling the effects. There are many cases of unpaid mortgages because of the government shutdown because some workers aren't getting paid.
I already knew about this topic but didn't realize the effects on the country's economy. I understood that Trump wanted 5 billion dollars for the wall and he was not backing down without it. It is terrible that since there is a conflict in the White House so many people that are currently trying to solve the problem are suffering which in turn makes our country as a whole suffer.
In 1995 there was also shutdown that lasted 21 days and made our economy feel the consequences. There were no Smithsonian tours, 280,000 workers stayed home that Monday. Even people who didn't work in the government got laid off before Christmas. I'm surprised that since the 1995 shutdown, we haven't fully learned from that experience and we're making the same mistake especially because it only happened 23 years ago.
