The Government Shutdown Continues- Gabriel Allen

Record shutdown is a massive Washington failure
Analysis by Stephen Collinson, CNN; Updated 1:19 AM ET, Sat January 12, 2019

The government shutdown began on December 22, 2018, and has been going for almost 24 days, making it the longest government shutdown in American history. The shutdown began when Trump asked for billions of dollars in funding to build a border wall but was rejected by Democrats. Since then, about 800,000 government employees have gone unpaid for weeks now. It doesn't seem like it's going to end anytime soon.

The fact that this shutdown has been continuing for so long is really upsetting. A solution needs to be thought of quickly. Waiting for someone else to fix the problem for them isn't going to work, especially since so many people are on unpaid leave or even working without pay.

This shutdown relates to the government shutdown that took place in January of last year, although that one only lasted for about three days.
