Summary~
Los Angeles educators walked out of their jobs Monday. It’s not about the pay raise but rather about class size reduction. They want smaller class size, more nurses and bigger teacher salaries. This leaves 600,000 kids with no ideas when they’ll see their teachers again.
Analysis~
Place and time: Los Angeles, January 14,2019
Prior knowledge: I heard about this situation while listening to the radio and it caught my attention. It was interesting to hear that teachers are on strike and fight for class size reduction.
Overall: This article was very interesting to see, how teachers want class size reduction. Which is totally understandable due to the fact that there is way more students than teachers. But what will happen to those students who don’t have teachers right now? Will there be substitute teachers and for how long?

I heard about this too,and it was interesting as well. And it is understandable that there are more students than teachers. But I feel like it would end up being a problem.
ReplyDeleteWhile students may b getting the short end of the stick right now, eventually smaller class sizes will help them too by creating a healthier learning environment.
ReplyDeleteI did mine on the same topic. I think smaller class sizes would help the students because it would make them get more attention, which would help their learning process.

It's surprising they're not protesting about their low wages. Very interesting indeed. I'd like to see where this goes.
ReplyDeleteWhat I thinks makes this strike so interesting is the fact that the teachers are fighting to improve conditions in the classroom for students as opposed to for themselves, especially since issues surrounding low wages for teachers is of such prominence right now.

DeleteI hate that the students are getting such a bad deal right noe, but I do believe sometimes we have to suffer through it to get the change we seek. Hopefully it works out and nobody falls too behind. -Kloe Rhoden
