A recent study done by CNN shows that most Americans don't support Trump's border wall, with 56% disapproving and 39% approving overall. However, Trump has decided to shut down the federal government until the Democrats, who control congress, pass legislation on funding for the wall. Most Americans also agree that the shutdown of the government is to be directly blamed on trump (55%) while only 32% blame the shutdown on the Democrats.
I feel like the U.S. government, the laws it passes, and the way it functions should be reflective of what the people want, as our government is supposed to be by the people, for the people. If the people don't want a wall, there shouldn't be one, and Trump should, in my opinion, heed the words of the public and Congress, despite his personal views and not focus on this one specific issue of border control and immigration. The fact that he shut down the entire federal government just because he isn't getting what he wants (plus the facts that the majority of Americans are against it), shows his immaturity and childishness as a leader and president, in my opinion. His personal agenda not being followed exactly how he wants should not be a reason to shut down the government out of frustration. Honestly I think it seems sort of like something a 5-year old would do out of frustration.
