In 2016, President Trump was elected as POTUS, even amid many rumors and evidence that tarnished his persona. He lit this fire even more by firing the FBI director: James B. Comey. After these events, an investigation was launched on President Trump and his affiliations with Russia. The firing of Comey not even made him look more suspicious, but could even have been an obstruction of justice, which is criminal. Other claims, such as his ties to Russia and their meddling in the election, are still unknown even after almost 2 years of the investigation. They referred to this investigation as a “witch hunt” in the article, explaining how hard it has been to gather evidence against Trump.
This article was written by Adam Goldman, Michael Shmidt, and Nicholas Fandos on January 11, 2019 in Washington DC. Previously, I had known about this issue and the fact that he had ties with Russia and how he fired his FBI director, but I never realized that it was obstruction of justic, only making the situation that much worse. We can compare this scandal, to some extent, with the presidency of Ulysses S. Grant, he had members of his office who were stealing public money and many of which were involved in the Credit Mobilier Scandal. They never were caught or held accountable for their actions.
