Summary: An old man was filmed being forcibly dragged off of an overbooked United Airlines flight on Sunday. People believe that the airline company should have given an unreserved apology, but the CEO only apologized for "having to re-accommodate ... the customer." The passenger was described as "disruptive and belligerent." The CEO also explained that the "employees followed established procedures for dealing with situations like this." China, a major US market, has been bringing a lot of attention to the incident as well. It was a trending topic on Weibo (the Chinese equivalent to Twitter).
Analysis: This was a terrible event that never should have happened. However, we do not know the full story yet and only saw a video of the man being dragged off of the plane. The fact that he let them drag him from the ground rather than getting up and following them only contributed to his injuries (and that was his own choice to do). We do not know what kind of disruption he was causing and, if he refused to move from his seat, what can they do other than physically move him?

True he did choose to dragged by not cooperating
ReplyDeleteThis could have been handled differently, and while the airline was completely within their rights to remove the passenger, the manner in which they did is not acceptable. However, you are accurate in saying that it was his choice not to move. He should have complied with the airlines, as their customer, and the police, as a citizen of the US, and then chosen the best course of action after the incident.
ReplyDeleteThis sucks, but God the video is funny to watch. People are so stupid Oh my God.
ReplyDeleteI very much agree with Lauren. It should have been handled differently
