Panama Papers Investigation Wins Pulitzer Prize. - Austin Wallace

The coalition of journalists involved in exposing the global scale of overseas tax havens have been given the Pulitzer prize. This scandal, which was exposed in 2016, involved the collaboration between over 300 reporters, around the world. It is amazing to see journalism being properly respected, in a time where the wealthiest seek to discredit reporters that don't fit there agenda. The Panama papers also showed the world the kind of power journalism has to change things for the better. Hopefully, we will be able to move past this Trump era of "fake news" and believe in the truth again.

This can be synthesized to the first amendment of the constitution, the freedom of the press. It is terrifying to know that our president and the entire alt-right movement is trying to undermine this essential pillar of liberty.

  1. Throughout history, journalists have always had an effect on society or life, like yellow journalism or muckrakers.
