Mackenzie Bessner- murder suspect jumps to his death in courthouse

An Ohio man, charged in a 2015 house fire that killed a 10-year-old girl and her grandparents, jumped to his death off a courthouse balcony Monday before his murder trial was set to begin. Robert Seman jr. was being escorted to a holding cell by deputies after a brief hearing at the Mahoning County Courthouse in Youngstown when he committed suicide around 9:30 a.m. The 48-year-old faced the death penalty if convicted in the deaths 10-year-old Corinne Grump, and her grandparents, 63-year-old William S. and 61-year-old Judith S. Prosecutors say he set the house on fire because Gump was scheduled to testify against him in a rape case.

When I read this article, I felt very unsettled. I do not understand how someone can do such hurtful things, especially to little kids. After his disturbing actions, he decides that what is best, is to kill them in a house fire. There was no justice here which is very sad. I think that this article is important because it lets the people all over the US know what is happening everyday. This article was published by CNN and it is a very reliable news network.

  1. wow! it is crazy to me that someone would go such measures to avoid consequences they deserve. The man who killed himself would've ended up dead either way (whether convicted or not), so why not just own up to it and take the punishment?-tessa ward

  2. I hope he was conscious while he lied there, his bones broken from the fall. I hope he felt every bit of that death.
