Devyn Lemack- Cancer Survivor Commits Suicide

  A young brain cancer survivor committed suicide after being bullied about her looks. Bethany Thompson, 11, got off the school bus in Ohio last week and shot herself on her back porch. Bethany only shared what she was going to do with one of her close friends. She told her she loved her and that she was her best friend forever, but that she was going to kill herself when she got home. Bethany endured brain cancer 8 years ago and after having a tumor removed was left with a "crooked" smile. It was that smile that kids at school allegedly picked on. Bethany's dad told the police that he thinks that is why she took her life.
  After I read this article, I was heartbroken. It baffles me how bullying is still a huge problem in the united states and that it can still lead to kids killing themselves. Bethany was only eleven and had her whole life ahead of her but the bullying led her to end her life. I do not understand why kids feel the need to make fun of people just because they look "different." I can not imagine what Bethany's family is going through right now.
