Anchor Learns Husband Died In Story That She Was Reporting - Sydney Bridgeforth

Summary:

Supreet Kaur was anchoring IBC24 news broadcast in India on Saturday morning whenever word broke of a deadly accident.  She told the audience about the details - - three people had died and two were injured when an SUV and truck collided in Pithora.  While she listened to a reporter giving more details about the tragedy over the phone, Kaur began to think that her husband, who she knew was in the area in a similar vehicle, might have been one of the victims.

Her demeanor never changed and the Senior Anchor continued reporting even as images of the vehicle and blurred photos of the victims appeared on the screen.

She and her husband had only been married for about 18 months.

Analysis:

This article was written for CNN.com on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 3:10 pm ET by Sugam Pokharel and Steve Almasy.  While I have read current events on CNN.con before, I have never read an article written by either of these authors.  This article was written simply to give the facts of the situation.

At this time I was not personally able to relate this current event historically.  However, I too applaud the strength and professionalism of this Senior Anchor to cover a story knowing her husband had died.  I totally applaud her extraordinary bravery and extend my deepest condolences (and prayers) to her.

  1. It's crazy that she was reporting the death of her own husband. That is extremely horrifying. It just shows how fast the media presents information I us.
