Amateur beekeeping hobbyists, may be contributing to bee decline. - Austin Wallace

A recent study has shown that the survival rates of beehives kept in captivity, is directly related to the level of education and disease control of the bee keeper. Many people across the world take up beekeeping as a hobby, and while this could be seen as a conservation effort on the surface, in reality it leads to far more hive deaths. While their intentions may be good, amateur beekeepers need to know the risks involved with their hobby. Without the proper education on how to deal with an infectious disease within the hive, beekeepers can unknowingly spread fatal viruses into the wild, causing major ecological catastrophe in the long run.

This can be synthesized to early sport hunting in the americas by european colonists, lead to the endangerment, or even extinction of many native species. Good intentions aside, misinformation and ignorance when dealing with such a crucial ecological niche, can be very dangerous to the environment.

  1. SAVE THE BEES. WE NEED THEM. WE WILL ACTUALLY PROBABLY DIE WITHOUT THEM. STOP MAKING IT HARDER FOR THEM TO SURVIVE. JESUS HECK, HUMANS.
