3 Dead, including 8-year-old, in a apparent murder-suicide at San Bernardino elementary school, police say: By Regan Saldana

Summary:

On the morning of April 10th, 2017, a man: Cedric Anderson (who was named the ex-husband of the woman murdered) arrived a San Bernardino Elementary School to "drop something off with his wife". At 10:27 a.m., Anderson opened fire in a classroom of 15 special needs students killing his wife and injuring two students. Anderson and his ex-wife, Karen Elaine Smith, died on the scene leaving two seriously injured students. All 500 students of the elementary school were evacuated from the school to a near by high school and both inured students were immediate airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center. The two students injured were not the shooters target but were standing behind the shooters target, Cedric Anderson's ex-wife. One of the two students injured died in the hospital while the other remains in stable condition.

Analysis:

The author of this article was Julia Jacobo and was created the evening following this event that happened in the mid-day and morning. This event is shocking to me because of the time and area it took place in. The shooter not only was able to enter the school without question (he had been devorced with his ex-wife for 2 months at the time of the shooting) but fired a gun. The man who shot the gun had past charges of drug use and claims of domestic violence and was not restricted from seeing his former wife who had split with him even though he had these past charges against him.

  1. The saddest thing of all is that this isn't surprising anymore. It's awful how consistent the rate of shoot-ups is.
