President Obama brought the case to Congress that America should use military force to fight the war against the terrorist group ISIS.
Secretary of State John Kerry and Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel outlined the parameters of the bill, saying that their only objective was to "destroy ISIL." He also said that the Authorization of the Use of Military Force does not call for the deployment of troops to Iraq and Syria which Hagel states would not be necessary to fight the war against the terrorists and it would protect national security.
Analysis
The War in Iraq called for a resolution to give the president power to control what happened on the ground, which branched from the fear of another 9/11. Obama wants to protect the country while fighting the continuing threat of terrorism.
