Starbucks is supplying 5 of its workers with full rides to attend Arizona State University online. This scholarship allows the recipient to complete a full bachelor's degree for free. ASU pays 42% of the fees for the students, then Starbucks pays the rest at the end of the semester to prevent the scholarship being wasted by a drop out. Starbucks has a ultimate goal of helping it's employees graduate college and be more prepared for the working public.
I think this is a great idea, especially for people who are struggling and might not have the means to pay for college or get other Scholarships to pay most of the fines. I appreciate Starbucks' incentive to help it's consumers and employees. Also, being such an influential power, advocating college for its employees will also rub off on its consumers.

I think this is a wonderful idea! It could really help out people who don't have the money for university.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is awesome because a lot of college students have to work while at school, so with this they're earning money for their future while working, and they don't have to worry about paying rent in the future AND paying off loans.
ReplyDeleteThis is similar to how the US government helped pay for soldiers' college education or helped them pay for houses once they returned home from war.
