Summary: Kwasi Enin, a first generation American from Long Island, NY, has been accepted into all 8 Ivy League schools (Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, Princeton, Yale) in the Class of 2018. Enin is ranked #11 in his graduating class of 647 (top 2%) and scored a 2250 on his SAT (99th percentile). His parents emigrated from Ghana to New York in the 1980's where they attended public colleges and both now work as nurses. Enin is looking to pursue music and medicine in college. He has said that Princeton has offered him the best overall package so far, but he is still waiting to hear from three of the schools.
Analysis: I was shocked when I initially heard about this. To be accepted into one Ivy League school is amazing, but the be accepted into all eight is unbelievable! It's especially amazing considering he is a first generation American. I don't plan on applying to any Ivy League schools for college, but this event clearly proves how hard you have to work to achieve your goals.

Wow, this is very impressive. His acceptance probably has a great deal to do with his fantastic SAT scores.

ReplyDeleteI could never imagine getting accepted into even one Ivy League college! This is such a great accomplishment and it's good to see how hard work eventually pays off.

ReplyDeleteTHIS IS INCREDIBLE. I wouldn't even think about an ivy league school but this is great.
I hope I get into some of these schools. It would be a great learning opportunity.

ReplyDeleteIt's amazing that he got accepted into all those schools. It must be insane working so hard for the sake of education
This is pretty fantastic. I wonder how much effort he had to put into his studies to do so well? I'm sure that he had to work very hard.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I don't really see how this is such a huge deal. Of course it's amazing in the first place that he was accepted into even one ivy league school, but I just don't see how his circumstances are so unique. He's not the only person to ever score a 2250 on the SAT or graduate at the top of his class. I feel like the main reason getting accepted to all Ivy schools is so rare is simply that most kids wanting to go to an Ivy league school focus their attention on one or two schools - It's not that they can't get in, just that they don't apply for EVERY school.
