NFL football player gets suspended for "bullying" Devon Travis

This week, the Miami Dolphins suspended played Richie Incognito for misconduct after a team mate Jonathan Martin left the team last week, in the middle of the season. He was said to send text Martin telling him how he will kill Martin. After meeting with the team on Sunday to get evidence of Incognito's mistreatment of Martin, Coach Joe Philbin decided to suspend Incognito taking "a leave of absence".

Is this ok for have teammates "haze" the rookies? Or should they toughen up, they're grown men in a dangerous, manly sport. Personally, although it is morally wrong for Incognito to say these things to him, but this is Martin's job on the line- and honestly he looks weak for backing down to Incognito. (this is just in terms for the NFL) But, we never think of if these "team" sports play by these team values and be friends together. They should.. they have the same goals. The idea of abasing teammates to intimidate them is wrong, and it wont get you anywhere. In the real world, most people keep these rude remarks that people say to them quiet, so why did Martin speak up? Good for him, he's showing people that these evil people can get what they served. Bullying is so wrong, if you have a problem with someone, leave them alone! it's not that hard... Props to the Dolphins for not tolerating these horrible remarks to Martin, incognito got what was coming for him.

I think any kind of bullying is bad. You never know how people can feel on the inside. Hazing can ruin a person's life forever and we all know where bullying leads.

  2. It is just messy and annoying to see an full grown adult act less than a child. I am glad the coach suspended the 'bully' and now they can get back to work.

  3. It was immature of Incognito to "bully" another teammate, considering he is an adult, and it was immature of Martin to leave the team. I agree that this made Martin look weak, however, I can also agree that no one should put up with any kind of bullying. Maybe Martin could have handled the situation a little differently, but it depends on how serious the threat was. In my opinion, this whole situation was somewhat childish and is not something that should be such a big problem between not only adults, but teammates on a professional football team.

  4. I see how Martin can be viewed as weak or too sensitive by leaving the team, but some people are more sensitive than others, and that has to be taken into consideration. Bullying is a serious issue and it can ruin a person mentally, so I don't think Martin handled this situation improperly at all. I think he did what was best for him and if that's what he needed to do, I think everyone should praise him for taking that action.
