Apparently a white female named Rachel Poole who was nine months pregnant was stabbed at her home. She is the wife of a Black male named Justin Pele Poole a soldier currently in active duty in southwest Asia. The two were video chatting when a nineteen year old boy by the name of Corey Bernard Moss who was training on abase in Fort Bliss. This was all in Texas. He claimed his reasoning for his actions were because the victim owed him money for car repairs. The wife knew the young man and repeatedly screamed his name out for the husband to hear. The husband managed to contact authorities and his wife was rushed to the hospital. Doctors performed a cesarean section and the baby is in good condition. The wife is stable. Corey is in jail on criminal attempted capital murder charges and his bond is set at $150,000. Friends of the Poole family began raising m\oney with the hopes of getting $5,000. They are currently at a number a few hundred above that.
It is appalling to me how someone could invade the home of a pregnant woman.
It is appalling to me how some one could stab a woman carrying a child.
It is appalling to me how one soldier in training could do this to another's wife and child.
It is inspiring to me the amount of strength and courage the husband had as he had to watch thousands of miles away helpless, and that of the wife who fought to stay alive for the sake of her husband and child.
As an aspiring defense attorney it is my job to see the other side of things. To make sure that people know that no matter how appalling one's actions are or the inspiration obtained from another's, there is always another side of the story. Out of every movie there can be plenty more made because we only divulge into the life of one, or one cluster. So those bad guys are just bad guys and it's left at that. However, I find the best movies to be the one's where you're not sure if you're upset with the "villain." The crime Corey committed is amazingly stupid, ignorant, cowardice, among other things. However, who are we to judge or say that his reasoning, his mindset, emotional stability, mental skills, and just downright life experiences trials and tribulations simply DON'T MATTER? We are nobody. Money should not be something to worry over and yet our society has made it just that times 1234567890987654321. (yes i just ran my finger across the numbers and back). Maybe this young boy was tied up in a deadly situation. Maybe it was something else, but I'm not going to be the one to sit here and say he should rot in hell for his actions. Because everyone has a story to tell.
