15 year old arrested for bullying: Ashley Barnes 2nd Period

A 15 year old girl who lives in Florida has been arrested for bullying some past friends of hers. The bullying was administered by through text messages, mostly of which were death threats. The suspect was warned by police to stop the bullying, yet still continued.

It's sad that the advancement of our technology has also led to our advancement of bullying. Bullying of any kind is terrible, whether it is in front of someone, or behind a screen. The fact that the girl was warned by the police and then continued doesn't make any sense to me. If I had been in her situation, I would have been nervous. Some might think that arrest for bulling is a silly law. However, if it helps prevent thousands from being bullied, then I think that it is a good law to keep.

  1. I totally agree with you. She should have been scared of the police and stopped but now she suffers the consequences. - Emily Gray

  2. i agree with you. especially if this girl was given a warning (which is very generous), she should have ben extra nice and grateful. yet instead she continued her horrid actions and is now rightly being punished for them. it's a shame

  3. I agree with what everybody has said. Nothing justifies cruelty to another human, and there should be no leniency, especially if the girl was warned in advance and still continued.

  4. I think that any law against bullying is a great thing. I feel that in schools, many times bullying isn't properly handled by the school administration, and the bullying situations are often not even addressed or recognized by teachers and staff, going along with the idea that "kids will be kids". I personally don't tolerate bullying in any way shape or form, and believe that a bully should definitely be punished for their actions, even if an arrest is what it will take to end bullying.
