A six year old boy drowned in a Carnival Cruise. It occurred when the ship, the Carnival Victory, was returning from its last leg of a four-day Caribbean cruise. Passenger Deshaun Christian, 23, who witnessed the rescue, told CNN iReport that the incident caught people, enjoying music and dancing, off-guard. Christian said a DJ discovered the boy struggling in the water and immediately stopped the music, people tried to rescue him but it had already been too late, the young boy was pronounced dead shortly after. "It was a lot of chaos, people were going crazy, people were praying, they had their hands to the sky. It was a scary scene, seeing a little boy just lifeless," Christian said. "There were a lot of adults, but why wasn't anyone watching the kids?" asked Christian, who was traveling with his family. "You'd think Carnival would have lifeguards around the pool."
The fact that the DJ was the first to see the boy drowning and alert everybody tells me that the parents were obviously not supervising their 6 year old kid properly. Parents should be watching their young kids at ALL times around a pool. If the pool was that active with adults and there was a possibility of danger the "parent's" should not have allowed him in the pool whether he was supervised or not!
I agree you think the parents would be more responsible to want to know where their kids are at all times. Parents these days just dont seem to care as much about their children, you hear tons of stories about children drowning, or left or in cars, its crazy!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how many incidents like this have been happening. Parents should take more care in watching their children as you both said. Although the cruise line did not have lifeguards around the pool, this fact was probably stated clearly and the parents should have kept a closer eye on their child.
