This article was written and publihed by KFOR news on April 5, 2017. It was written specifically by Dallas Franklin, KFOR staff. This article consisted of some conserned and scary information. It was about a 17 year old kid who murder his stepmother in her home. After the police were called and he was arrested he asdmitted to knocking her out with a bat to the head and then taking her to the garage and shooting her with a rifle. He then left with his stepmothers car. All of this went down while his father went to go pick up a relative. He is being charged with first degree murder, and is expected to be charged as an adult. I have heard of things that this happening but I still don't see why they would go that far to kill someone. Also being someone with step parents, it's scary to think that someone would be so cruel and have so much hatred. I also want to point out the fact that he used a rifle to commit the crime. And this sort of thing adds to the point of gun control: so people, and kids, like him don't have access to a rifle. If he had not had access to a gun or powerful weapon, the likely hood of the stepmother to still be alive is stronger.

it is saddening that people will just kill someone out of cold blood. did the stepmother do anything abusive to him? i don't think so. if the gun had not been in the house, or at least if it was in a very secure place, his stepmother would likely still be alive. -tessa ward
ReplyDeleteThis is a tragedy that should never have happened. This teenager should have been receiving mental care for some obvious issues. However, I am not sure gun control is the right response because if this was not the teen's gun, then it would be hard to implement gun control without infringing on the 2nd amendment. Also, this teen was clearly troubled and was probably willing to murder using any weapon, as evidenced by the use of the bat, and the rifle happened to be most convenient.
