New Mexico just became the most recent of seven states in the nation to ban the use of conversion therapy programs on minors. Conversion therapy has been proven time and time again to be on the level of torture, often times causing severe depression and other crippling mental traumas. The fact that, in many states, these practices are still legal and being performed by licensed mental health professionals shows the complete disregard our county has towards its youth. I could care less what the bible has to say, "religious freedom" should never trump actual science, or endanger the lives of children.
This can be synthesized to the forced assimilation of the native american peoples. "Freedom of Religion" does not grant people to take other's rights away from them.

I think that what New Mexico did is great, they are protecting the youth from being mentally tortured.
