Katie Haidet - Restaurant Asks Man to Remove Breast Cancer Shirt

Summary: This past Saturday, Brian Studdard was going to the restaurant Niki's West in Birmingham Alabama in celebration of his father's 99th birthday. He was representing his friend who had just pasted away due to treat cancer wearing a bright pink shirt that said "breast matters.” The staff of the restaurant told him he had to change shirts in order to be served. Brian offered to turn it inside out, but that wasn't good enough for the restaurant owner. With him not having another shirt to change into, the owner called the police and they took Studdard out of the restaurant. He was told then that he was not allowed to come back either.

Analysis: This article was posted on Daily Mail. When I came across this article, I was in awe. He wasn't doing anything wrong or causing any harm to the others around him, and I believe if you aren't doing one of those things then you are fine. With this incident, people took to social media with this in outrage. Wearing something you believe in and has a sentimental meaning behind it, and in which you can bring awareness to a cause and help fight for it. This relates to the Vietnam War when many Americans protested by wearing black arm bands. They felt that Americans were dealing with too many fatalities and wounds than were good. They wore something to bring awareness to their views just like Studdard.
