Facebook, a $328 billion company as of 2016, is a social networking website that is mainly used as a way to share news, photographs, and links as a way of communicating. This year in Perugia, Italy, a conference was held by Facebook to discuss how the social network's news feed functions and to share new ideas and discoveries made relating to the "integrity" of the company. This was somewhat unusual due to the fact that the company tends to keep plans to themselves until they are ready to present their new product or idea. Because of Facebook's criticism during the 2016 election for spreading false information, the way the company interacts with the news industry and the way it informs its viewers is being altered.
False news is a bigger issue than Facebook, its a problem that needs constant addressing. Spreading incorrect information that has to do with political, economic, or social aspect across the globe is miscommunication at its finest. I'm impressed that Facebook has taken this up and is working on ways to make their information more reliable and trustworthy.
