The Russian region of Chechnya, according to local reports, have detained gay men in concentration camp like prisons. While government authorities deny these claims, there in no denying the horrific videos of the violence enacted upon a recent gay rights protest in the region. Hundreds were beaten and arrested. Local authorities continue to not only deny this brutality, but also deny the very existence of gay people in Russia. This is a terrifying tactic that has been used by dictators for centuries to justify the oppression and extermination of groups of people. Press secretary Ramzan Kadyrov claims, "If there were such people (LGBT people) in Chechnya, the police would have to do anything because their families would take care of it on their own."
This can be synthesized to the Holocaust during WWII, when people, jewish and LGBT alike, were arrested and placed into prison camps where they suffered torture and death.

This is shocking, but not very surprising, considering history and how idiotic humanity can be. I think the real solution is just to exterminate the entire population and leave the world to be run by dolphins- no humans, no systematic oppression, hate crimes, or concentration camps (that statement is satirical, but really, people need to accept those who aren't exactly like them and stop making others suffer for their own comprehensive shortcomings. Humans are selfish and inherently flawed).
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely terrible. No one should ever have to go through something like this, and I believe that these people deserve justice for what has happened to them.
ReplyDeleteIt honestly does not surprise me that Russia has started to do this. And it was pretty smart to do it after a new U.S. President was elected, however, I do not know if the Clinton administration would really do much. Even if Trump didn't agree, he wouldn't dare risk his "friendship" with Putin.
