So Congress just screwed us. A new law was passed by the House of Representatives after already passing the Senate that allows Internet Service Providers (ISP's) to sell your browsing history, and potentially personal information, to advertising and customer service companies. Its aim is to tear down policies that came during the Obama administration that would have required the permission of the consumer to allow this information to be tracked before ISP's to utilize the information for advertising purposes. While most of this information, while in the hands of ISP's, won't target and specific consumers and will remain mostly safe, as the information gets passed around, it becomes more vulnerable to hackers and identity thieves. This could lead to a mass collection of personal information, that if in the wrong hands, could lead to many problems for Americans.
