Audrey Gavitt- child died from flu

Summary- 

        Shannon Zwanziger had the flu for a week before she died. 'Let it run its course The seasonal flu kills healthy, active, precious kids every year. Shannon went to school on a Wednesday, came home like always, but said a friend "Gave" her the flu. The flu destroyed Shannon Zwanziger's organs and she didn't even know it, her mother said. The doctor just said it was the flu and to "Let it run its course." The doctor didn't have a lot of time to spend with her because the waiting room was packed with people who seemed to have the flu also.

Analysis-

       This was written by Gwen Zwanziger and published by CNN on April 2nd. One big decision parents have to make is whether or not to give them the flu shot or not. Many are afraid that since the shot has some of the virus in it, it will cause problems for the child. Although parents have the right to do what the chose with their child when they chose not to get the flu shot they are also endangering other children. However, a tragic story like this may concern parents enough to get the shot.
