Summary: For the next three days schools near New Delhi will be closed. This is because of the extreme amount of smog in the air. Even construction and demolition work will be banned for five days. Delhi chief minister even warned they may only allow a certain amount of cars on the road based on their license plate numbers. Some believe the unusual amount of smog is due to the recent firecrackers at the celebration of Diwali. UNICEF reported the pollution is being caused by,"vehicle emissions, heavy use of fossil fuels, dust and burning of waste".
Analysis: This situation is extremely scary. Not only is the pollution affecting the health of children it also affects their education. The smog is at a hazardous level and I think this should be a wake up call to other countries. We all share the same air so if one countries air is bad all of our air is bad. I wanted to synthesize this to the Industrial Revolution and how damaging it was to our Earth. I hope we can realize the effects fossil fuels have on our planet and look for cleaner energy sources.

This is so scary. It's one thing to have to deal with Global Warming and the drastic weather changes, but now pollution that is closing schools.
ReplyDeleteThose conditions are very gross. Nobody should have to live breathing toxic air. Delhi needs to look at waste emissions and how to manage them because that is a huge problem and living that way is not sustainable.
