SUMMARY:
Todd Kohlhepp, your average real estate agent in Spartanburg, South Carolina, was recently suspected to be a serial killer. In recent times, he confessed to killing four people. In total, however, he may be responsible for seven deaths. Many that were familiar or acquainted with Kohlhepp through business or every day appearances in Spartanburg, said that they would never have expected that he would commit such crimes. Daren Owens, a real estate client under Kohlhepp, stated that even though "some things he said were creepy", they never suspected him to be a killer. When reflecting on past interactions that some had with Kohlhepp, some messages sent by him could have been perceived as threatening. A woman and her boyfriend went missing in August, and on November 3, investigators found her "chained by her ankle and neck and screaming for help in a shipping container on Kohlhepp's 100-acre farm". After further investigating, they have found two bodies, Meagan and Johnny Coxie, on the same property. He has already served jail time for previous crimes committed. The article does not state his current position in terms of punishment.
ANALYSIS:
Prior to reading this article, I hadn't heard anything about serial killers, or them being a huge threat to society in such cases as these, and I'm glad that that hasn't been a major issue! However, this is really sad and disturbing, and I feel bad for those involved! It would be so scary to know someone for so long, and then learn something about them as serious and horrifying as this. Crime rates have been increasing, and I believe this a major problem that definitely needs to be fixed. I feel as though this can be synthesized to the movie, Disturbia. Disturbia is about a serial killer that is living among all these innocent citizens, and only one actor is suspicious of him. He ends up having a huge background in criminal events, and he is very dangerous to the community. The serial killer in that movie could be linked to Todd Kohlhepp in the way that they are both "criminals in disguise." Overall, however, this was a very sad event, and I pray for those families involved in the incident.

What a sick, twisted mind this person must have to feel it necessary to to end the lives of these four people.
