Danger and relief as Iraqi Special Forces push deeper into Mosul- Bakari Williams

Summary: Iraqi special forces have been fighting over the city of Mosul, Iraq for several months and recent developments have been for both the benefit and the growing danger inside the city. As brought up many times during the presidential election, the city of Mosul, Iraq's second largest city, has been under siege from ISIS and Iraqi forces have been fighting the terrorists for quite some time. There have been major benefits due to the pushes of Iraqi forces in the city such as there being more safe or 'liberated' zones throughout the city streets and neighborhoods for civilians to continue with their daily lives. On the other hand, dangers have grown because of ISIS's growing concern over losing this major city. A recent showing of that is a car bomb going off less than 500 feet from the building housing Iraqi Counter Terrorism Gen. Abdulwahab al-Saadi followed by sounds of gunfire and exchanged between ISIS and the CTS.

Synthesis: The situation of the battles in Mosul can relate to reform movements of the late 1800's and early 1900's. The movements were pushing for change in the social lives of many people and were trying to, in a way, 'liberate' the minds of American citizens. They were also in many ways similar because both would be fighting uphill battles to change things for the better and not just for change but for improvement.

  2. Mosul is in a dangerous territory. Hoping them to find safety soon, and their residents to feel safe in their own homes. And not fear the radical groups around.
