Emily Anderson- super super moon

Tonight marks a very special and rare night where the moon is called a "super moon". This means the moon is biggest, brightest, and closest to earth it can ever get. Super moons happen approximately every thirteen months. This makes people then question why this super moon is so spectacular. It's because this specific night is when the super moon is even bigger and brighter than normal which makes it a "super super moon". According to CNN, super moons are 14% bigger and 30% brighter than a regular full moon. This means this type of moon is very special.
The last time the earth witnessed a super moon this bright was back in 1948, almost 70 years ago. This really shows how rare these moons actually are since so much has happened in our world and country since then. Just to name a few major events that have happened since the last super moon: the Korean War, Vietnam War, Alaska and Hawaii becoming states, the ratification of the 22nd and 26th amendments and 9/11. In addition, the next "super super moon" isn't projected to happen until 2034. Lots in our country and world will probably change by the time we have the next super moon like this one.

  2. I like to think that everyone around the world could witness this rare occurrence served as a reminder that we all share the earth and must be aware of what's all around us rather than just what's near us. I'm excited to see how the world has change by the next super moon in 2034.
