Students Stage Anti-Trump Walkouts:
summary:
This past week since the shocking election of Trump to be America's next president, Maryland High School and Montgomery Blair High School worked together to organize a march protesting Trump's election and bursting open piƱatas that were made to look like Trump. When questioned during interviews, the high schools stated that even though they weren't old enough to vote, the presidential election still affects them dramatically. The protestors marched 6 miles through Veteran's Plaza. Monday marked the sixth day of the protesting walks. Most of the protests were peaceful and not violent, however, in Portland, Oregon, there were shootings and 71 protestors were arrested. People are also fired up because Trump won the electoral vote and Hilary won the popular vote.
synthesis:
I think that it is good for young people to be exercising their freedom of speech. However, I think these protests are taking advantage of that privilege as an American. It's good for people to have different opinions but as we all know, Trump is the president-elect and no amount of arguing and complaining is going to change that. And I think that it is absolutely ridiculous that people are complaining about how Trump didn't win the popular vote yet he still won the presidency. George Bush didn't win the popular votes however he was still a great president of the United States. I think that if people are going to express there opinion, they shouldn't do it in a rebellious sort of way that these recent protests have suggested.
